Electives

The University of Washington Boise Internal Medicine Residency provides electives in medical subspecialties and non-internal medicine specialties. These are based at the Boise VAMC, Saint Luke’s, Saint Alphonsus, at offices around the state of Idaho, and at the hospitals of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. We provide housing for rotations greater than 40 miles from Boise.

Subspecialty electives include cardiology, community-based training, endocrinology, gastroenterology (endoscopy or consult focus), hematology-oncology, infectious disease, allergy/immunology, nephrology, pulmonary, women’s health, rheumatology, palliative medicine, sports medicine, and sleep medicine.

Non-internal medicine electives include psychiatry, dermatology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, non-operative orthopedics, radiology, and rehabilitation medicine.

Special electives can often be arranged for residents with demonstrated educational needs. Examples include invasive radiology, additional intensive care unit rotations and dermatologic pathology.
